§ I

About the Product.

What is Zim Zam?

Zim Zam is a mineral blend formulated to mimic the mineral profile of Zamzam water — the sacred well in Mecca that has flowed for at least 1,450 recorded years, and by tradition since the time of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, some 4,000 years ago. It is the first electrolyte blend designed to do this.

Six ingredients. No sugar, no colors, no flavors, no sweeteners. Add one scoop to a bottle of water and drink it throughout the day.

What are the ingredients?

Six ingredients. Nothing else.

  1. Baja Sea Salt — The foundation. Lowest sodium and highest magnesium and potassium of any natural salt. 91 trace minerals, according to the supplier's analysis. Harvested directly from the ocean.
  2. Sodium Bicarbonate — Mimics Zamzam water's natural alkalinity, around pH 7.8–8.0.
  3. Calcium Citrate — Zamzam water has ~24× the calcium of typical bottled water.
  4. Magnesium Glycinate — High bioavailability. Gentle on the stomach.
  5. Potassium Chloride — Matches Zamzam water's potassium profile at moderate, safe levels.
  6. Magnesium Sulfate — Provides sulfate ions, mimicking one of Zamzam water's key mineral components.

How does it taste?

Like glacier water or a high-quality mineral spring water. Clean, slightly mineral, not sweet. There is no flavor, no color, no sweetness — it tastes like water that has been upgraded.

“Someone has even described it as glacier water. Not even me. I've given it to them when it's cold and they're like, 'Wow, this tastes like glacier water.'”— Abel · Zim Zam co-founder

Best served cold. In our sampling at mosque events, people consistently preferred ours.

Is this just salt water?

At its core, yes — these are minerals dissolved in water. But Zamzam water is also "just water," and its mineral composition is unlike any other water source on the planet. The difference is which minerals, how much of each, and in what ratio. Six specific compounds in a specific balance, matching a water source that has flowed since the time of Ibrahim, peace be upon him. Sometimes the simplest things are the most remarkable.

How many servings per bag?

How long does it last?

Mineral salts are inherently shelf-stable — they do not spoil. Kept sealed and dry, with the food-grade silica packet that ships in every bag, the product holds its quality well past purchase.

We have not yet completed formal shelf-life testing, so we cannot put a specific "best by" date on it. When that testing is done, we will update this page.

§ II

How to Use It.

How much do I use?

One level scoop — about one gram — per 16-ounce water bottle. For a liter, use one and a half to two scoops. Shake or stir. That is one serving.

How often can I use it?

Up to twelve times a day, spaced throughout the day. Each serving gives you a modest, balanced dose of each mineral. The blend is designed for all-day sipping, not a single concentrated dose.

“Ours is designed to be used up to 12 times a day if you wanted to. And it's designed to be spaced out throughout the day.”— Abel · Zim Zam co-founder

Most blends pack a full day's sodium into a single serving, so they are not built for all-day sipping. Ours is designed for it — modest mineral doses, the way Zamzam water is.

Why does some powder settle at the bottom?

That is calcium citrate. It does not fully dissolve and forms a fine sediment that sinks. This is normal — it is what happens when you put real calcium in water instead of hiding it behind sugar and flavoring. Give your bottle a shake before the last few sips.

Can I mix it into a large jug?

Yes. For all-day hydration, fill a jug, add proportional scoops, stir, and drink from it throughout the day. This is how the founders use it — a constant mineral supply rather than individual bottles. Roughly twenty-four scoops for three gallons — the same one scoop per sixteen ounces, scaled up.

Can I cook with it?

The blend is food-grade mineral salts. You could use it in cooking, though it is formulated for water.

§ III

Faith and Halal.

Is it halal?

All six ingredients are individually halal-compliant. The product contains no animal-derived ingredients, no alcohol, no gelatin — it is mineral salts and nothing else.

We are actively pursuing formal halal certification and will update this page the moment it is achieved. We will not claim certification until it is official.

Is this a replacement for Zamzam water?

No. And we will never claim to be.

Zamzam is a gift from Allah — a well that has flowed since the time of Ibrahim, peace be upon him. No human product can replicate that. What we have done is study Zamzam water's mineral composition and formulate a blend that matches it as closely as possible using six food-grade ingredients.

We are the closest electrolyte blend to Zamzam water's mineral profile on the market. But we are not Zamzam water. We never will be.

If you have access to real Zamzam water, drink it. Nothing we make will ever replace it. Zim Zam gives you a way to get a similar mineral profile in your daily hydration — for the other 364 days of the year when Zamzam is not in your hands.

Is this bid'ah?

Zim Zam is a mineral blend, not a religious practice. We are not claiming to create blessed water or to reproduce any spiritual quality of Zamzam. We studied Zamzam water's mineral composition — its calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, bicarbonates, and sulfates — and formulated a blend that mimics those ratios.

This is nutrition, not worship. The same way studying the benefits of black seed (habbatus sauda) or honey — both mentioned in hadith — is not bid'ah, studying and applying the mineral profile of Zamzam water is not bid'ah.

We encourage every Muslim to consult their own scholars if they have concerns. We take this question seriously.

Can I use it during Ramadan?

This is one of the strongest use cases. At suhoor and iftar, adding Zim Zam to your water helps maintain electrolyte balance during fasting hours. The blend is designed for moderate, repeated use — one scoop per bottle, throughout the times you are drinking.

The fasting community has been making their own electrolyte solutions for years. When we compared what was in those DIY mixes to what is naturally in Zamzam water — the water Muslims have fasted with since the time of Ibrahim, peace be upon him — they were nearly identical. That is not a coincidence we can ignore.

§ IV

Health and Safety.

Is it safe for kids?

Yes. The only exception is babies under six months, who should not be drinking water at all at that age. For older children, the blend contains the same minerals found in high-quality mineral water at moderate doses.

Are there any side effects?

The blend is designed for all-day use — up to twelve servings spaced throughout the day. Each serving gives you a modest, balanced dose of each mineral. Compare that to most electrolyte products, which load several times your daily sodium in a single serving.

The product label includes guidance on maximum consumption within four-hour and twenty-four-hour windows. If you have a specific medical condition, consult your doctor.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before adding any new mineral product to your routine during pregnancy. The blend contains only naturally occurring minerals at moderate doses, but your doctor knows your specific needs best.

Can I take this with medications?

If you take prescription medications, especially those affecting kidney function, blood pressure, or mineral balance, consult your doctor before use. The minerals in the blend — particularly potassium, magnesium, and calcium — can interact with certain medications.

Do you have lab testing results?

Each of our six ingredients has existing peer-reviewed research behind it. We are currently completing independent third-party lab testing on the finished blend — testing across multiple production lots to verify consistency and composition. We will publish those results on this page when they are available.

We hold ourselves to a clear standard: if we cannot back a claim with peer-reviewed research, we do not make the claim.

Is this FDA-approved?

No. The FDA does not "approve" foods, and Zim Zam is a food product — mineral salts dissolved in water — not a drug and not a dietary supplement. We make no medical claims.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Zim Zam is a food, not a supplement, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Consult your doctor before use if you have a specific medical condition or take prescription medications.

§ V

Ordering and Shipping.

Where do you ship?

United States only. Canada and Mexico may be available in the future.

How much is shipping?

$1.50 flat rate. The product ships flat in a regular envelope — the two-bag packaging was designed to enable this.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship via USPS. Most deliveries arrive within 3–7 business days.

What is your return policy?

As a food product, we do not accept returns.

“What are you trying to return, man? It's salt, bro. Dilute it. If you don't like it, do half the amount. Be free, bro.”— Saif Qasrawi · Zim Zam co-founder

If your order arrives damaged or never shows up, we replace it. No questions asked.

What if my order never arrives?

Contact us at zimzamlabs@gmail.com with your order number. If it is lost in transit, we will send a replacement.

Do you offer subscriptions?

Not yet, but we are exploring it. For now, the 150-serving bag at 33 cents per serving is the best value for regular users.

§ VI

The Bigger Picture.

How is this different from other electrolyte brands?

Most electrolyte brands formulate based on whatever scientific study came out last decade. The formula changes every few years because the science keeps shifting. We formulate based on a water source that has flowed since the time of Ibrahim, peace be upon him.

Beyond the foundation: most brands overdose on one or two minerals — usually sodium — then add sugar or artificial flavors to make it drinkable. They charge two to three times what we charge per serving. Zim Zam has six ingredients, no sugar, no flavors, moderate doses safe for all-day use, and costs as little as 33 cents a serving.

Can I make this myself?

Yes. We publish the full ingredient list. You can buy Baja Sea Salt, sodium bicarbonate, calcium citrate, magnesium glycinate, potassium chloride, and magnesium sulfate from a health food store and mix them yourself.

But by the time you source six ingredients, figure out the ratios, and get the proportions right, you will have spent more time and more money than buying a bag from us. We have done the research, sourced the salt directly from the ocean, and dialed in the blend. Fifty cents a serving.

Why should I trust a small brand with no lab testing?

We publish every ingredient. You could buy them all and make the blend at home — we will tell you how. We are not hiding behind a proprietary formula or a "secret blend." We are transparent because we have nothing to hide.

Independent third-party lab testing is in progress and results will be published when available. In the meantime, every ingredient has existing peer-reviewed research, and every claim we make is backed by it. If we cannot prove it, we do not say it.

How much goes to charity?

A portion of every sale is set aside to send Zim Zam directly to communities in need — not cash, but the actual product. A lightweight mineral packet that ships for under two dollars and carries essential electrolytes is practical aid, not a gesture. We are building this program and will share specific numbers as it grows.

When you buy through a mosque affiliate link, 20% of that sale goes back to your masjid. We would rather fund your community than fund an ad.

Is my purchase Zakat-eligible?

Purchasing Zim Zam is not a Zakat payment. Our charitable mission is funded through a portion of profits, and we are working with scholars to clarify the Islamic classification of those contributions as we formalize the program. If you are looking for Zakat-eligible giving, consult with your local imam or scholar.
